Director D.Baines makes a name for himself within the Atlanta film industry

Atlanta Ga – With Atlanta being number one is the world for film as of 2017 there is many directors and film producers living amongst the city.

Amongst many popular film directors in the city is Director Derek Baines.

At the ripe age of ten, Derek Baines developed a love for film, as he watched his uncle Drone w. work within the industry as a photographer for Motown Recording label. Being a fan of Kung Fu movies and music video, Derek was destined to learn more about film production and work within the industry.

During Derek’s teenage years, he began studying film production. Breaking down scenes, plots, and character analysis in his free time. While his peers would play sports, and engage in other extracurricular activities, he would be at home learning how to write scripts. He considered it important to perfect his craft.

Through many years of practice and dedication director, Baines landed his first major hit music video with singer/rapper Akon and other famous entertainers such as Quavo from the group Migos, Young Dolph, Money bag Yo.

In 2017 Derek starting working on his first series for Netflix that is currently untitled but is set to be released in 2019. Though Derek has had success within the industry he still has hopes and dreams of producing large budget films.

As of 2018, Director Baines has launched a full production company called palm tree pictures. He first thought of this company ten years ago while living in Memphis Tennessee as an aspiring director. “ My talents go way beyond just directing films.” Said Baines. “I also operate the camera on most of my own projects, I guess I'm considered a jack of all trades.” Director Baines hopes to expand his brand to New York and California, where he frequently travels to work on projects.
